Michael Ratzenberger Memorial Scholarship

First and foremost, the Ratzenberger Family wishes to share their gratitude for the continued contributions to this fund. They are overwhelmed by the generosity and thoughtfulness shown in helping to realize Mike’s vision of bringing a Sports Biz Camp to the D.C. area. It means so much to the family that Mike will be remembered with such a tangible legacy.

In Memoriam

When Sports Biz Camps announced our plans to expand outside of the Charlotte area, Mike was one of the first and most enthusiastic industry professionals to raise his hand and volunteer to lead the charge for the establishment of a Washington, D.C. chapter. His passion and enthusiasm for our mission was infectious, and he was endlessly generous with his time, knowledge, network, and resources, making himself available for everyone at any time. Mike was a bright light to all who had the privilege of meeting him and was a special member of our SBC family. He is dearly missed by the entire community.

Scholarship Details

In honor of Mike’s memory, his family has requested that donations be made to Sports Biz Cares. These contributions support the Mike Ratzenberger Memorial Scholarship, an essay-based scholarship awarded to a young person from the D.C. area who exemplifies the values Mike stood for: authenticity, work ethic, grace and humility, a passion for helping others, the ability to connect people and ideas, and a commitment to making himself and those around him better each day.

In partnership with the Monumental Sports and Entertainment Foundation and the Leonsis Family, the scholarship will award $10,000 to a student enrolled at a DMV college or university whose goals and values align with the missions and pillars of both Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) and Sports Biz Careers (SBC).

We are honored to work alongside the Ratzenberger Family and our partners to award this scholarship each year to a deserving student and to carry forward Mike’s legacy through meaningful impact.
